Nayla Dabaji (born in Beirut) lives and works in Montreal. She studied visual arts in Lebanon, media arts in Quebec and brings together several practices such as photography, installation, video art, action art and writing in her projects. She was the winner of the Empreintes residency at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in 2020. Her video works have been presented at L’Imagier Art Centre (Gatineau, 2019), Dazibao (Montreal, 2017), and in numerous festivals, such as Les Instants Vidéo (Marseille, France, 2019, 2015, 2014), Les Percéides (Percé, 2018), the International Festival of Films on Art/FIFA Experimental (Montreal, 2017), Stuttgarter Filmwinter (Stuttgart, Germany, 2015) and Antimatter Media Art (Victoria, 2015). Besides her individual practice, she works in duo with Ziad Bitar. Their visual arts projects have been exhibited in several galleries, institutions and art centers including Espace libre (Bienne, 2016), VU Photo (Quebec City, 2013), Gertrude Contemporary (Melbourne, 2012), Artsonje Center (Seoul, 2011) and Townhouse Gallery (Cairo, 2009).
