Lauri Astala

Lauri Astala lives and works in Helsinki, Finland and Avallon, France. Astala's medium is the moving image, often constructed as in-situ installation. His works deal with concepts of space and the cultural structures that form our way of conceiving space. In our technologically mediated world, Astala is interested in the blurred border between actual and virtual reality. Amongst he venues that have showed his works in solo exhibitions are Turku Art Museum, Finland (2014); Eyebeam Art+Technology Center, New York, USA (2013); Kunsthalle Helsinki, Finland (2013); Gallery Heino, Helsinki, Finland (2016, 2012, 2008); Helsinki Art Museum, Finland (2010); KUMU Contemporary Art Museum, Tallinn, Estonia; Institut finlandais, Paris, France (2008). His exhibition at OBORO marks the premiering of his work in Canada.
