Registration
August 29 to September 19, 2012

Media arts / Nomenclature, issues, and current history is a series of workshops where current aspects of what is still called "media art" will be explored. The thorny question of terminology will serve as a starting point, followed by discussions on the contexts of dissemination and curating. Questions surrounding digital versus analogue, robotics and audiovisual performances, network art, game art, interactivity, sound art, electronics, open source and DIY practices will also be discussed, concluding with an overview of the issues and broad lines of reflexivity running through current media art, both in theory and practice, and perhaps even some ideas on what its future might be.

Within each workshop, invited artists and participants will share their knowledge of the subject or present a relevant art project.

The goal is to offer a perspective on a type of art-making that, while too recent to have been integrated into official art history, exists in a very real way through an experience of the present – both the experience of the artist and that of the public.

*This workshop will be conducted in French.
