Lantern of 4001 Berri - Event Pictures

              

The cultural organizations of 4001 Berri invite you to take part in Lantern of 4001 Berri, a neighborhood event that combines a workshop, a parade in the park, ambulatory performances, followed by an outdoor screening in front of the 4001 Berri building. This event is free and accessible to all.

Lantern of the 4001 Berri is an initiative from the different cultural organizations in media arts located at 4001 – OBORO, Studio XX, Groupe Intervention Vidéo (GIV). For the occasion, the Conseil québécois des arts médiatiques and the studio Xangle – Eric Paré will offer their windows located on the ground floor for the projection of video works.

Schedule

  • 1 pm - 4 pm: Family friendly ongoing lantern making workshop as part of the Media Arts for Family exhibition at Studio XX (4001 Berri, door 201) More info: https://bit.ly/2wL0Nym
  • 4 pm - 6 pm: Little books and printmaking workshop with Pata Macedo in the MobileArtLab in front of 4001 Berri 
  • 6 pm - 8 pm: Family friendly ongoing lantern making workshop at parc La Fontaine (corner of de la Roche and avenue du Parc-La Fontaine)
  • 8 pm: Gathering at parc La Fontaine (corner of de la Roche and avenue du Parc-La Fontaine)
  • 8:30 pm - 9 pm: Parade of lanterns in the parc La Fontaine towards the 4001 Berri with ambulatory performances *Bring your own DIY, LED lantern or come make one at one of our workshops!
  • 9 pm - 10:30 pm: Video projections on the windows of 4001 Berri - the street will be closed for the occasion.

Cheryl Pagurek

Cheryl Pagurek is an artist living in Ottawa whose practice mixes experimentation with photo and video. While based on keen observation of reality and everyday occurrences, the works disrupt our usual expectations of these media and their traditional claim to verisimilitude, highlighting instead their constructed nature.

Egotrip Productions (Arthur Desmarteaux & Allison Moore)

Arthur Desmarteaux is a multidisciplinary Montreal artist who has been developing puppet plays under the banner of Egotrip Productions with his partner Allison Moore since 2006. They presented their shadow play All Included on the Red Planet as part of the Phénomena Festival. Arthur Desmarteaux exhibited his latest multimedia installation entitled Fantastica Mexico at the Daegu Art Factory in Korea in the fall of 2019.

Frances Adair Mckenzie

Frances Adair Mckenzie is an interdisciplinary artist based in Montréal whose practice includes video installation, sculpture, animation, and collaborative ventures. She holds a diploma in New Media from B.C.I.T. and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University. She has exhibited work at the Musée d'art contemporain des Laurentides; Centre Clark and Oboro in Montréal; and Parisian Laundry and the Satosphère of the Société des Arts Technologiques (SAT).

Olivia Mc GilChrist

Olivia Mc Gilchrist (she / her) is a white French-Jamaican multimedia artist and doctoral candidate exploring how colonial legacies extend their reach to Virtual Reality (VR) technology. She has exhibited in Canada, Jamaica, USA, Brazil, Germany, Norway, Austria, France, Switzerland, UK. Building on her experience as a white Euro-Caribbean and research in the portrayal of her hybrid identity within contemporary Jamaican culture, Olivia explores how this can be represented in VR.

Rojin Shafiei

Rojin Shafiei is an Iranian artist living and working in Montreal. In her videos, art is a vehicle for the translation of cultural messages and is used to present diverse feminine subjectivities. She explores these themes both through a literal documentary style and as symbols. She is particularly inspired by the observation of routines, on both individual and at the metropolis levels.

Tina Bararian

Tina Bararian is an Iranian modern dancer and choreographer based in Toronto. She holds a BA in Film and Cinema Studies at York University, and a diploma in modern and ballet dance from George Brown College in Toronto. She has been awarded as the 2nd runner up in TCCSA's (The Cross-Cultural Community Services Association) Youth Ambassador Competition 2012 and has performed on television and several dance theatre performances.
