OBORO and Les amis de la montagne invite you to take part in an original workshop series entitled “Coup de patin” of five activities that will resonate with the winter sounds of Mount Royal.

The main goal of this workshop is to make recording and sound production accessible to all through playful and artistic activities. What is planned? A sound search with sound equipment; music production with recorded and generated sounds, encounters with the artist and citizen engagement; and exploration of the territory. Activities are open to all, whether you are experienced – or not – with electronic music.

The project will begin in December with Inuk artist, Geronimo Inutiq, and will culminate on March 1, 2018 with the presentation of the works at a launch party with the theme of skating in music. The presentation will continue throughout the winter until the end of the season.

During the workshops, the participants will work on the sound pieces, drawing on the ecology of the mountain. The result will be a reflection on nature and civilization, like the fauna, flora and human beings that inhabit the place. In his creative process, Geronimo Inutiq will take into consideration the very nature of ice-skating, with its sporting and leisure dimensions.
