Becoming a Dragonfly explores the creation of autonomous sound circuits and their dissemination in public spaces as well as online. The project is inspired by the migratory behaviour of a widespread dragonfly species, the Anax junius, whose cyclical and intergenerational migration happens twice a year during the Spring and Fall.

In 2013, nearly 200 solar-powered sonic insects emerged, some of which were disseminated along the Anax junius' migration route from New Jersey to the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.

In 2014, the migration will take place in the public parks of the Montreal island. The circuits are distributed or abandoned on-site as dragonflies are observed. The dispersion is documented through geo-location, sound, photography, video, text and correspondences.

Over the course of her residency at OBORO, Émilie Mouchous will develop an artistic website compiling these data.
