Sound art is by nature interdisciplinary. It can be performative, installation, immersive. It can be part of technological, sociological or environmental research and creation. This workshop will approach sound art through the practice of the artist-instructor, based on her experiences and accomplishments over the past 25 years in the field of contemporary art.
This collective workshop will bring together artists working in different disciplines or in interdisciplinary fields and will allow them to enrich their practice through an exploration of a subjective sound language. During the workshop, participants will be introduced to audio recording and the various microphones appropriate for the exploration of approaches such as: field recording, voice recording in an interview situation, amplified objects or gesture. Sound production and broadcasting, mixing and digital audio editing will also be approached. This way, the participants will be led to create their own sound library made up of materials, textures and sound events that they will have produced and recorded themselves.
In the light of the instructor's experiences, it may be interesting to approach the medium of sound under the themes and approaches proposed by different fields of contemporary art, such as: site specific art; contextual and intervention art; performance; installation; participatory art.
The training will allow each participant to:
- deepen their approach
- sharpen their sensitivity to the sonic dimension of the world
- experiment and work with sound as creative material
- be attentive to the dialogue that emerges between their current practice and their sound language
- define technical, conceptual or theoretical needs
- confirm and clarify interests and creative projects with the medium of sound
- use professional audio equipment and explore sound-emitting devices
