What happens to sound art, audio art and sound installation which is deployed in multiple disciplines and constantly develops new tools to infiltrate new fields of research and creation?
In this workshop, we will look at recent history, current trends and particularly at the potential future of sound art.
Sound art is more present than ever in contemporary art biennials, public spaces, festivals and international exhibitions. it appears in many varied forms of performance, installation, sculpture, video or robotics.
What are the strategies, protocols and technologies implemented by artists working with sound and/or thinking their works through sound? What are the remanent and persistent traces that haunt artists' practices in sound art and what types of experiences do they probe? What do these current sound art practices teach us about our relationship with the world, about the current issues that preoccupy the artists? Can we build a new type of collaborative creativity by listening in a collective and interdisciplinary way?
Through the diversity and multiplicity of points of view and hearing points of our guests, we will be guided by our ears, listening to the practices in sound arts from the recent past and the present and to the tracks of reflection and action that they induce for the near future.
These sessions will be accompanied by bibliographies and links prepared by the guests as well as a selection of audio works to listen in a fitted listening room.
Through the diversity and multiplicity of points of view and hearing points of our guests, we will be guided by our ears, listening to the practices in sound arts from the recent past and the present and to the tracks of reflection and action that they induce for the near future.
Emphasis will be placed on the following themes:
• What are the main actants (individuals and technologies) of audio art.
• The singularity of approaches from different countries in time, university research, the contribution of women, the inventions of the underground, the effects of the presences, the intuitive, animistic and spiritual practices.
• The intersectorality and interdisciplinarity that characterizes sound art practices.
• The sound space and the effects of sound art on audiences.
• The relationship between sound art, the environment and ecology through the physics of sound.
• Acoustic applications and transductions between physiology and electronics in sound art.

Prerequisites
- Be a professional artist, creator or cultural worker; this workshop is designed specifically for sound artists, architects, scenographers, sculptors and electronic musicians;
- Attend every workshop session;
- Be a self-employed worker or a salaried employee in an enterprise not subject to 1 % Training Investment. Two spots available for employees of companies that are subject to the 1% Law. Please contact us for more details.

Reservation / Payment
Reservations can be done by phone or email. Full payment must be made for reservations to be valid. You can pay by credit card (Visa or MasterCard), cheque or in cash. Registration to a workshop is not transferable.
Cancellation / Refund
OBORO does not refund registration fees except in case of illness (with a medical note) or of absolute necessity. In such cases, registration fees are transferable to another workshop or service offered by the New Media Lab.
