November 19–20 and 26–27, 2016, 10 am to 5 pm

Registration
October 27 – November 16

Bilingual instructors will offer the workshop in French.

Objectives
This workshop aims to foster the creation, production and distribution of electronic music from an Aboriginal feminist vision.

Inspired by the strength and resilience of Aboriginal women, Electronic Soundscapes: Indigenous Feminist Sound Production is part of a movement of awareness and positive action to induce a vision of change for the future.

The milieus of sound creation and online music are presently in full cultural, economic and technological revolution. They are indicative of collective realities, including new skill acquisition and possibilities of expression. Individual and environmental strengths will be combined with the physical feedback provided by electronic musical instruments.

Methods
This training draws its inspiration from the relations between bodies, waterways and electronic flows. Participants will be immersed in a collective creative and technical context, through the process of composition, performance, recording, editing, mixing and mastering of a conceptual online music project.

The topics include current themes:
- Audio art, modular synthesis, dark ambient, drone and acoustic landscapes;
- Key introduction to the steps of producing a conceptual digital album, distributed online (HD, iTunes, MP3, FLAC, OGG, etc.).

The focus will be on physical, analogue, and digital instruments in hybrid and beneficial interactions that draw on the musicians’ personal resources and those of a professional sound studio.

Prerequisites
- Be a professional artist, creator or cultural worker;
- Some performative, compositional and hands-on experience of electronic music instruments is an asset;
